MSME Tool Room, Hyderabad (Central Institute of Tool Design), was established at Hyderabad in 1968 by Govt. of India with assistance of United Nations Development Organisation (UNDP) & International Labour Organisation. It was first of its kind in the country established by Govt. of India. The aim was to fulfill the tooling needs of Small Scale Industries and training of technical personnel in Tool Design & Manufacture. The Institute is managed by Governing Council with Additional Secretary and Development Commissioner, MSME as its Chairman.
The Institute has a well equipped Tool Room with sophisticated CNC Machines like Wire cut EDMs, Vertical Machining Centre (5 & 4 axis) CNC Lathes, CNC Milling Machines, Plastic Injection Moulding Machine, Double Column Milling Machine, 3-D Coordinate and Laser 3D- Coordinate Measuring Machines, CNC Universal Grinding Machine etc. and undertakes critical design, development & manufacture of job works for MSMEs, Large Industries, Public Sector Organizations & Defence Establishments.
